This 1957 Buick Special convertible is finished in white over red vinyl and is powered by a 364ci Nailhead V8 paired with a Dynaflow two-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a white convertible top, power-assisted drum brakes, power steering, a Wonderbar push-button radio, and 15″ wheels with whitewall tires. The car was assembled in Arlington, Texas, and spent time in California prior to the selling dealer’s acquisition in April 2021. This Series 40 Special is now offered by the selling dealer with three keys, an owner’s guide, and a clean California title.
The car is finished in Dover White with a matching convertible top and chrome sweepspears with orange inserts. Additional exterior details include a hood ornament, three ventiports on the front fenders, rear tail fins, a single chrome side mirror, and dual exhaust outlets that exit through the rear bumper. A Buick Club of America medallion is affixed to the grille, and the paint is chipped near the right headlight.
Red 15″ steel wheels wear polished Buick covers and are mounted with 215/75 Coker Classic whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted drums at all four corners.
The cabin is upholstered in red and features two rows of vinyl-trimmed bench seats with pleated inserts. Equipment includes a Wonderbar push-button radio, a heater/defroster, lap belts, and an analog clock mounted above the locking glovebox. The passenger door handle is missing, and additional photos showing the condition of the interior are provided in the gallery.
The three-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and gauges for engine temperate, oil pressure, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 79k miles, though total mileage is unknown.
The 364ci Nailhead V8 was factory rated at 250 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. The selling dealer states an oil change was performed in October 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Dynaflow two-speed automatic transmission. Additional underside photos are presented in the gallery below.
