Dua Lipa is bringing her Barbie character to the real world.
The pop star channeled disco mermaid energy in her latest vacation look, which consisted of a baby-blue mesh minidress paired with shiny silver sky-high platform sandals. Lipa wore the little sheer long-sleeved dress over a matching light blue bikini, and carried a checkered pink-and-white box bag by Chanel—as any Barbie would. She finished the look with dark rectangular no-frame sunglasses, big gold flower-shaped earrings, and a gold anklet with tiny charms. “Ibiza ritual 🐬,” she wrote in the caption.
The outfit looks like it was pulled straight from Lipa’s ’70s-inspired Barbie movie closet. In Greta Gerwig’s hit film, Lipa stars as Mermaid Barbie, a mysterious underwater creature with electric-blue hair. The singer also recorded a song for the movie’s soundtrack, the disco-pop bop “Dance the Night,” which plays during the Barbies and the Kens’ choreographed dance routine.
Lipa’s vacation wardrobe since then has been mimicking the disco-doll look and embracing mermaidcore energy. Over the weekend, she enjoyed a beach day in a black crocket bikini with colorful flower appliqués, which she wore under a sheer black dress. And earlier this month, the “Sweetest Pie” singer stepped out during her Mediterranean getaway in a metallic pink minidress with a long train, styled with a chunky gold chain choker. “All I do is beach,” she wrote in an Instagram post featuring the look, quoting Ken (played by Ryan Gosling) from the film.
