When Taylor Swift dropped her sassy comeback single ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ last month, many fans were left scratching their heads over why she chose to sample ‘I’m Too Sexy’ by Right Said Fred.
In fact, Taylor went so far as to give the one-hit wonders a partial writing credit, presumably to prove yet again that 2017 is the weirdest year on record.
However, ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ was missing a bit of the swagger of ‘I’m Too Sexy’… particularly lacking any reference to shaking one’s little tush on the catwalk. Until now.
That’s right, Right Said Fred have released their own version of ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ that actually interpolates the lyrics from ‘I’m Too Sexy’ into pure pop perfection. Have a listen below:
That remix is simply too sexy for life itself. Right Said Fred, made up of brothers Fred and Richard Fairbrass, have been publicly supportive of ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ — particularly because they say Taylor Swift captured the tongue-in-cheek spirit of ‘I’m Too Sexy’.
“It’s pretty cool,” Fred told Rolling Stone. “I like the cynical aspect of the lyric, because ‘I’m Too Sexy’ is a cynical song, and I think she channeled that quite well.”
His brother Richard added: “[Taylor’s] lyrics were dark. I thought they were dark, slightly moody and aggressive – all the stuff I like.”
It doesn’t matter how much you grovel guys, Tay-Tay’s next single definitely isn’t a cover ‘Deeply Dippy’. (Remember that song?)
