Earlier this year, it was announced that the upcoming film The Marvels would be postponed for longer than initially expected. Since then, fans have been left in the dark about any new updates on the movie. That has now changed after it was confirmed that we will be seeing some of the franchise’s characters return to the screen in a new series. It has also been revealed that actress Emilia Clarke will be appearing in the project and that she will be replacing an actress from Captain Marvel.
Captain Marvel Characters Return in New Series
Captain Marvel premiered in movie theatres on February 27, 2019. The film starred a plethora of A-list actors who helped bring the story to life for audiences. Notable Cast Members include Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos and Keller, and many others.
The film is an epic superhero story that grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide. Because of its success, fans were eager to know when the story would continue. The follow-up story to Captain Marvel was announced soon after. The Marvels features many of the same characters and actors as Captain Marvel, so fans of the first were excited to see the new film in theatres. Unfortunately, the film’s premiere has continued to be pushed back. The original release date was for July 8, 2022. Now it looks like the film will finally be ready on November 10, 2023.
Some fans worry that the story will grow stale the longer it stays unreleased, but a new show featuring many Captain Marvel characters has reignited the spark for many fans. The show in question is called Secret Invasion, and it is set to release on June 21, 2023, on Disney Plus. Secret Invasion is described by Disney as;
“In Marvel Studios’ new series “Secret Invasion,” set in the present day MCU, Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.”
Emilia Clark Takes Over Role in New Marvel Series
Actors like Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn will reprise their roles from the movie Captain Marvel. It has also just been announced that actress Emilia Clarke will be replacing a Captain Marvel character in the new series as well. Emilia Clarke will take over the role of G’iah, who is the daughter of Talos and Soren. Clarke will play the daughter as a grown-up, replacing Auden L. Ophuls and Harriet L. Ophuls who played the role in Captain Marvel. Fans are thrilled to see Clarke join the MCU and take on such an exciting role.
