Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took to Twitter to reach out to Taylor Swift in an attempt to encourage her to add some Canadian dates to her current Eras Tour.
Earlier this week, the American hitmaker, 33, announced more international dates for her acclaimed tour, which will now continue until August 2024 and include over 50 stops overseas including London.

Despite announcing added shows in Europe, South America and Australia, the Cruel Summer singer currently has no shows in Canada scheduled.

After seeing that his fellow Canadians were left out, Mr Trudeau issued a plea to the music star on behalf of all the Canadian Swifties, who are desperate to see her live.

Referencing several of her hits, the world leader tweeted, “It’s me, hi. I know places in Canada would love to have you.

“So, don’t make it another cruel summer. We hope to see you soon.”

As reported by Billboard, Swift has not performed in Canada since her 2018 Reputation stadium tour.

While Canadians will have to wait and see if Mr Trudeau’s plea works, other Swifties celebrated seeing their countries on the list of tour dates.

On Wednesday, Swift said she was “screaming” with excitement after adding 14 new shows to her The Eras Tour in the UK and Europe.

The shows include dates in major British cities including London, Liverpool and Edinburgh, as well as three dates now in Dublin – June 28 to 30.

The US megastar was already due to play the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on June 28 and 29, but has now added a Sunday show.

There has been speculation online that this may rule the US megastar out of appearing at the 2024 Glastonbury festival, which also falls on these dates.

Swift was previously scheduled to perform at the world-famous festival in Somerset in 2020, prior to the coronavirus pandemic.

Posting on Twitter on Wednesday, she wrote: “Really can’t contain my excitement because… we’re adding 14 new shows to The Eras Tour.

“And I get to travel the world doing shows with @paramore!!

“Hayley (Williams) and I have been friends since we were teens in Nashville and now we get to frolic around the UK/Europe next summer??? I’m screaming???”
