New Year’s Eve is an excuse to pull out all of the stops and Dua Lipa did not disappoint.

To ring in the new year, the pop star dazzled in a dress that looked like it was made of glitter—but it was not just any dress. The sheer fabric shimmered with every move and had a few details that set it apart from the rest.

Lipa’s dress had a deep cutout in the back that crisscrossed at the top and exposed the singer’s white thong, much like Hailey Bieber’s cheeky New Year’s Eve fit. Unlike Bieber’s look, however, this appears to be the Lipa’s actual undergarments and not a part of the dress’ design.

Lipa’s own dress crossed in the front to create a halter neck, very much giving early 2000s Paris Hilton vibes. With its throwback asymmetrical design, the dress nearly touched her knees in the front, but went ultra-short in the back, emphasizing the thong detail. Lipa paired the dress with hot pink knee-high boots, a perfect retro addition. Can she also bring back her hot pink Barbie hair moment?

For the moment, Lipa’s butt-length brunette hair was pulled back to expose her shooting star earrings, which shone just as brightly as the rest of her look.

There is no doubt that her dress stole the show, but Dua Lipa dedicated the caption to wish her friends, family, and fans a happy and healthy new year: “🏹🤍2023 ~ Happy New Year ~ wishing you peace, love, health and happiness for this year ahead x.”

This is not her first thong dress, of course. While vacationing in Tulum, Mexico in January 2021, she rocked a strappy black halter dress by Mônot, which she paired with a V-string thong by Savage X Fenty.

Dua Lipa is definitely a fashion trendsetter, and we can’t wait to see what she brings to 2023.
