Taylor Swift has been teased before about her enthusiasm at awards shows, but do people really want the alternative? A long night of watching hot people sitting stoically? I don’t think so. Swift has always been a good sport at these events, and it makes them so much more entertaining for us at home. She dances and sing along with every performance, even if she’s the only one standing up. She cheers for each winner as if she were the one taking home the award. And she’s not above indulging in the open bar. All the more reason why her Oscar snub stings.
“I used to get really nervous at awards shows because, seemingly, they’re a huge pressure cooker,” Swift once said when asked about her “bad dancing” at award shows. “And everybody seems to be sitting there trying to look more unaffected by being at this award show than the person next to them. That can have an affect on you, and so you’re in the front row and you’re sitting there like, ‘Maybe I should sit here like this.’ A couple years ago I just decided, ‘No. This is the coolest concert you could ever go to. This is like all these incredible acts playing their biggest songs and I get to be front row and I’m going to dance during this because I feel like it—and not because it looks cool, because it doesn’t.”
It seems the 2023 Grammys were a particularly good night for Taylor Swift, if the photos are anything to go by. Not only did she wear $3 million in jewels and win best music video for “All Too Well: The Short Film,” but the singer was also spotted chatting up just about everyone in the room and posing for pics that look like the equivalent of every millennial’s Facebook party albums circa 2010.
